I had no plans to travel to Mongolia, but on a whim, to appease my visa requirements, and the fact that the Nadaam festival was days away…I boarded a 5 hr bus to cross the border. After a 12 hour train ride I arrived in Ulaanbaatar. I quickly made friends, and treaded the unpaved roads of the country-side to see Tibetan temples, camels, horses, goats, expansive blue skies, and gorgeous moon faced babies. On our return we enjoyed the traditional Mongolian sports and children racing horses…and I saw the president.
